A chartered accountant in Mumbai, Chirag Varaiya, committed suicide on January 30, 2023 at his friend's resort in Maharashtra's Nashik district. In his suicide note, he accused the police of harassing him and taking false action against him. The police had booked him in a rape case on January 10, 2023, but he had denied the allegations. In his suicide note, Varaiya claimed that his former colleague and her husband had framed him in a fake rape case.

Although no complaint has been filed yet, the Igatpuri Police have registered an accidental death report (ADR). Varaiya hanged himself in his room at a resort in Igatpuri after he and his driver had gone there to relax. He also wrote in his suicide letter that no one should be held responsible for his death.

Varaiya was very fond of his wife and children, and the note revealed that he was deeply affected by the investigation by Bhandup Police. He had co-operated with the police during the investigation and agreed to visit the police station whenever required. He also filed a case of fraud against the girl who filed the rape case against him.

According to the police, Varaiya became "stressed" after the rape case was filed against him. He accused the police of disturbing his family, clients, and staff in his suicide note. To get a better understanding of the event, the police will note the identities of the involved officers.
