A 25-year-old woman was strangled to death with a towel over a dispute over jewellery and character suspicion in Malabar Hill. The 30-year-old husband of the deceased woman has been arrested by the Malabar Hill Police. The officer said that the police registered a case of murder against the accused on the complaint of the dead woman's mother.
The deceased woman has been identified as Yogita Sumeet Vedvanshi (25) and lived with her husband in Shivaji Nagar near Kambala Hill High School in Malabar Hill. Yogita had an argument with her husband Sumeet Laxman Vedavanshi (30) on Wednesday. Sumit beat her due to this argument. After that, he strangled her with a towel. Yogita collapsed and was taken to the nearby Elizabeth Hospital. She died when the doctor there conducted a medical examination. As soon as the information about this was received, the police immediately started investigating the matter. Later, when the statement of Yogita's mother Lakshmi Suresh Nadal (45) was recorded, he said that it was Sumit who killed her. daughter
Sumeet pawned Yogita's jewellery to his friend Abhishek. Also there used to be disputes between them due to suspicion of character. A similar argument took place on Wednesday. Lakshmi informed the police that after that Sumit beat his wife in a fit of anger and then strangled her with a towel.
The police have registered a case of murder under Section 103(1) of the Indian Penal Code. Accused Sumit was then arrested from his residence. The police have also found the towel used by the accused for the murder and it has been seized. Malabar Hill Police is conducting further investigation in this matter.
