A dead body of a man was found hanging from a skywalk in Ghatkopar at 1:40 pm on Monday, December 16. The incident occurred near the BMC N ward office. The local police filed an accidental death report and suspect suicide. The deceased is estimated to be in his late 30s.
A large crowd gathered when the body was noticed. The Pant Nagar police arrived at the scene after receiving information. They coordinated with the fire department and ambulance services to move the body to Rajawadi Hospital for examination.
Authorities are still searching for the deceased's family. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area. They are also questioning witnesses to gather more information. The man is believed to have been addicted to drugs.
As per a report by FPJ, police questioned a 62-year-old man, who frequently slept on the same skywalk. He recognised the deceased after seeing a photograph. He claimed that the man had been living on the skywalk for the last three months. It was also found that the man spoke Hindi and was from Golibar in Ghatkopar West.
A pair of eyeglasses was also found near the body. The glasses had an inscription reading "Delhi Chashma Ghar, Hospital Road, Siwan, Bihar," and a phone number. Police connected with a person named Murari Prasad using the number. Efforts are ongoing at identifying the man.
The skywalk is located in a busy part of Mumbai. Police are puzzled as no one noticed the body earlier. The post-mortem examination will confirm the exact cause of death.
