After busting a Bihar-based illegal call centre whose operators duped the citizens, Mumbai Police arrested five people, one of them a BTech graduate, detaining a minor.

According to reports, this happened after Mumbai Police’s cyber cell discovered a racket after an investigation into a complaint was lodged by a city resident who was duped while trying to order Remdesivir. The accused were allegedly running the fake call centre and duping people by using the COVID-19 pandemic as bait.

Meanwhile, the accused suspected to have cheated at least 210 people across the country till now. Moreover, the arrested accused have been identified as Dharmajay Kumar, Dhananjay Kumar, Shrawan Paswan, Nitish Kumar and Suman Kumar, while their sixth accomplice was a minor who has been detained.

On the other hand, Mumbai traffic police have commenced its door-to-door drive in an attempt to collect the pending traffic fines. During the past two weeks of the said drive, INR 1 crores have been said to be collected. The officials are aiming to target the top 25000 individuals who cumulatively owe the Traffic Department INR 120 crores.

The traffic police were compelled to start this drive because a large chunk of motorists was not paying their dues. To be able to collect the payments, the force was left with no other option, but to undertake the said regime. As part of this initiative, two constables equipped with body cameras will visit the motorists’ homes and ask for fine payments.
