Businessman Raj Kundra arrested in a case related to creation and publishing of pornographic films

Mumbai Police released a statement regarding his arrest on Monday, July 19, 2021. As per reports, the racket was busted in Februrary 2021, and nine people have been arrested in the case.

Mumbai Police, in the evening on Monday, July 19, 2021, arrested businessman Raj Kundra in a case related to pornographic films.  

A total of nine people have been summoned by the police for questioning. The complaint was filed by a group of women who informed the police regarding the matter and stated that they were promised role in a web series, however, were asked to act in porn movies, which were shot and released on an app. The racket was busted by the police in February this year.

Sharing more information regarding the same, Mumbai Police released a statement which read, "There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in Feb 2021 about creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We’ve arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. We have sufficient evidences regarding this. Investigation is in progress please."

Reports state that his lawyer are currently unavailable to comment regarding the matter. However, it is being said that actress Shilpa Shetty's husband, Raj Kundra, has sought anticipatory bail denying any involvement.

Besides this case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) also questioned Raj in the money laundering case involving gangster Iqbal Memon and DHFL promoters, Dheeraj and Kapil Wadhwan.
