In recent developments, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has informed that Param Bir Singh has been shifted to Home Guard. Moreover, Hemant Nagrale will be the new police chief of Mumbai.

Hemant Nagrale happens to be Maharashtra's director general of police and has been appointed as the next Mumbai Police Chief. This massive high-profile transfer has come amidst the probe into the Mukesh Ambani Antilia bomb scare case, in which Mumbai Police API Sachin Waze has been arrested.

Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Waze, who was initially investigating the high-profile case was later arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Moreover, he has been suspended from service. Waze was then transferred to the Citizen Facilitation Centre at the Mumbai Police Headquarters. He is currently in NIA custody and will be till March 25.

Waze has been arrested under IPC sections 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance) 465 (forgery), 473 (making or possessing counterfeit seal, etc with intent to commit forgery), 506(2) (punishment for criminal intimidation), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and relevant provisions of the Explosive Substances Act.

On the other hand, in the past, Param Bir Singh had busted the TRP racket, claiming that channels were manipulating the TRP ratings and the data released by BARC. He further added that TV channels like Republic TV, Fakt Marathi and Box Cinema - are all involved in the racket, and officials have arrested the owners of Marathi channels Fakt Marathi and Box Cinema. This had created widespread outrage across the state and the country leading to conjecture about the said media houses and their loyalties.
