Mumbai: Three people from Mahabaleshwar arrested for selling tiger skins

Three people from Mahabaleshwar who were selling tiger skins have been arrested in Mumbai. These include the three who were selling tiger skins and tiger claws worth one million 60 thousand, including 114 cm long, 108 cm wide and twelve tiger nails in the LIC Maidan area of Borivali. A case has been registered under the Wildlife Act.

Sandeep Anandrao Parit filed the complaint and the names of the accused are Suraj Laxman Karande (age 30, resident of Birwadi, Mahabaleshwar), Mohsin Nazir Jundre (age 35, resident of Ranjanwadi Mahabaleshwar) and Manzoor Mustafa Mankar (aged 36, resident of Municipal Society Mahabaleshwar).


Police Sub-Inspector Akhilesh Bombay got information that some people from Mahabaleshwar were coming to sell tiger skins in the LIC Maidan area. On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajay Kumar Bansal, a trap was laid in the Maidan area and the three were caught. Tiger skins and claws were seized from them.


Under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Sudhir Kudalkar, Saheb Police Inspector Bhalchandra Shinde, Akhilesh Bombay, Praveen Chopde, Sandeep Parit, Prashant Thombre, Ganesh Shermale participated in this operation. It has come to light that the Satara Forest Department had no information about this matter.
