Lower Parel- Nationally acclaimed swimmer Tanika Dhara (23) committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence. She was associated with Western Railway as a clerk. Her body has been sent to Nair hospital for further investigation.
Tanika had won a silver medal in the 1m springboard event at the 70th National Aquatics in September last year and also got a bronze in 35th National Games held in Thiruvananthapuram in 2015.
When Tanika’s friend and neighbours broke the door they saw her hanging from the ceiling. When she was admitted to Nair hospital, she was declared dead on arrival.
Police are now investigating her case as the reason for suicide is still not known.
