The Crime Branch has taken action against a gang selling Viagra CLS, Levitra and other drugs without permission. The call centre that was set up to sell these illegal drugs has been sealed.
The Crime Branch had received information that drugs were being sold through call centres in Vashi without any permission. On the basis of this information, when the crime branch team raided the centre, a shocking case came to light. Accordingly, accused Sanket Mahadik had started a fake call centre in the name of 'Friends Solution' at Realtech Park (Shop No. 1207, Sec 30A) in Vashi without obtaining any permission. He also recruited people to contact them by phone.
He bought data of foreign customers from Mubin, Naushad (Rest. Malad, Mumbai). 22 persons working in the call centre changed their pseudo names for their benefit and made VOIP CALLs to the citizens of the USA through the iPhone in the call centre and sold them Viagra, CLS, Levitra and other drugs. Interestingly, they did not have any kind of permission or recommendation letter from medical authorities to sell medicines.
Also, the money from the sale was deposited in a bank in the name of the company Invatio Infotech Pvt Ltd. Actions have been taken against them under fraud and Information Technology Act as well as Indian Wireless Satellite Act 5. A thorough investigation is going on in this case and some important threads have been picked up. A senior official said that more information will be given after the investigation is completed.
