In a recent operation, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized 1.170 kg of charas worth approximately INR 2.5 lakh in the Khargar, neighbourhood of Navi Mumbai. The NCB apprehended a person in connection with the seizure, who gave details about a person living in the city. The person was told to be engaged in the purchase and distribution of pharmaceuticals in Mumbai.

Following this information, the NCB gathered details on one M. Khan, a Khargar resident. He was allegedly running the network from his shop in the Kalyan-Silphata neighbourhood.

On March 14, the NCB received information about a drug shipment being brought into Mumbai. After a thorough investigation, the NCB confirmed that M. Khan had obtained the drug shipment and concealed it in his store.

The NCB-Mumbai officials kept a close eye on him. They eventually caught him as he tried to exit the establishment. Upon further investigation, 1.100 kg of charas were discovered hidden among regular everyday goods. During the search, money worth INR 7 lakh was also found and seized from his two shops.

Further, NCB officials searched Khan's home and found 70 gms of charas. In addition to the drugs, 970 gms of gold and INR 33.45 lakh in cash were also found and seized. Khan submitted the gold and cash that had been accumulated from prior drug sales and were being used to buy new consignments. All of the gold, cash, and narcotics were seized.

The NCB Mumbai's zonal section announced that the operation was successful due to a reliable tip. The use of drugs is illegal in India and punishable by imprisonment and fines. The NCB is responsible for enforcing India's drug laws and fighting drug trafficking. This seizure is part of a larger effort by the NCB to crackdown on drug trafficking in India.
