On Friday, January 21, US$ 60,000, worth nearly INR 45 Lakhs, were found during the frisking of a ground handling agency staff at Mumbai's CSMI Airport in the International Security Hold Area (SHA) of Terminal 2, reported the news agency ANI. The staffer had allegedly concealed it at the lower part of his body under his clothes and socks.

According to the report, he was questioned, during which he revealed that he was going to hand it over to someone at boarding gate No.46. Promptly, the senior officers of CISF were apprised about the occurrence. It has been reported that the CISF surveillance team located a passenger bound for Dubai near the boarding gate.

The passenger was intercepted and inquired. However, the passenger refuted to any involvement in the case. But because the staff confirmed that he was going to give the foreign currency to the passenger, he was stopped.

Later, the matter was informed to Customs and AIU Officials. Based on the narrative, the staff, passengers and currency were handed over to the customs officials.

In other developments, on Friday, the Mumbai Airport Customs intercepted a passenger who arrived from Dubai and seized 1.1 kg of Gold dust concealed in his underwear. The passenger was then arrested.
