On Monday, May 9, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at over 12 locations in Mumbai against Dawood Ibrahim's associates and some hawala operators, reports stated. 

The agency in a statement stated that it commenced the raid at many places on the premises of associates of Ibrahim. According to them, the raids were conducted in Nagpada, GoregaonBorivaliSantacruzMumbra, and Bhendi Bazar, amongst other places.

It has been reported that NIA also conducted raids in Bandra, Kurla and Mahim.

The NIA back in February had registered that many hawala operators and drug peddlers were associated with Ibrahim.

Based on accounts, the NIA detained Salim Fruit after a raid at his residence in Mumbai. He is reported to be an associate of Ibrahim. Apart from his detainment, certain crucial documents were also seized.

Later in the day, an individual named Kayyum in Mahim was also detained by the NIA, claim narratives. Moreover, Suhail Khandwani, Managing Trustee Mahim Dargah and Haji Ali Dargah, was taken into custody by the agency.

In its raids, the NIA detained Sameer Angora from Delite Apartments in Bandra, reports stated.

It has been reported that from the NIA conducted raids on the associates of Ibrahim, six people were detained from different areas of 20 locations in Mumbai. These detainees are now being interrogated by the agency.

Further, Ibrahim's close aide Guddu Pathan was also taken into custody by the NIA.
