A phone thief who was mistaken as a molester was arrested by Mumbai police after a 25-year old woman approached Mumbai Central GRP to register a complaint when she realized her 80,000 Rs phone was missing.

The incident took place when she was on her way to work in the general local compartment. Initially, passengers had mistaken him for being a molester as he was seen fidgeting with her handbag. There was a scuffle between passengers and the man stole her phone. After stealing her phone, he managed to slip out just in time.

According to reports, the woman works at a corporate hospital in Mahim and had entered Churchgate slow train. She got up from her seat when the local crossed Bandra to get down at Mahim when her wireless Bluetooth was plugged into her ears as she was listening to music. Narrating the incident, the young physiotherapist told that she was in a rush. When she got down on the platform, a woman commuter asked her to check her handbag. Her music was still playing. By the time she was rummaging in her handbag, the train left and the music stopped playing. It was then she realized that her iPhone was missing.

The thief was tracked down in Dharavi who already had 14 offences registered under his name.
