Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra have seen a significant increase over the last few weeks, and the state government along with the municipal corporations are working day and night to curb the cases in Maharashtra.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Mumbai Police have asked people to leave the houses only if necessary, and also follow the safety guidelines at all times. However, officials, at several instances, have observed that citizens are violating the lockdown rules, and hence they had to take strict actions against the people.

As per the data released, Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that the police, between March 22 and September 20, 2020, have registered 2,62,000 cases under section 188 and a total of 96,172 vehicles have been seized. Moreover, 35,795 people have been arrested for flouting the normals. Incidents of attacks on police officials have also been reported in this time period, and 895 citizens have been arrested for the same.

With cases increasing day by day, the police, health department, doctors and nurses are working relentlessly to control the spread, despite the unlock guidelines and the permitted movement. However, people have failed to follow the civic responsibilities, and haven't understood the seriousness of the situation. Recently, the police took action on irresponsible citizens.

Meanwhile, some responsible citizens who were in need of assistance, called the police helpline number 100, for help. Data revealed that over 1.13 lakh calls have been received and all of them have been duly responded. Besides these, police across the state have traced 868 people with Quarantine stamps on their hands and sent them to detention cells.

Data released by the state health department, as of September 21, 2020, states that Maharashtra had a total of 12,24,380 cases and 33,015 deaths. With more 9.1 lakh people discharged, the recovery rate in the state is 74.84 per cent, while the fatality rate continues to remain at 2.7 per cent.
