In a heartwrenching incident from Thane city, a two-day-old newborn baby girl was found near the side of a gutter. The baby was discovered by a morning walker on Wednesday near the Ayyappa Temple in Balkum, the police said.
Constables from the Kapurbawdi Police Station visited the site upon receiving the information. The infant was rescued and taken to Kalwa’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital for treatment.
The police have registered an offence against unidentified persons under IPC Section 317 (exposure and abandonment of child under twelve years by parent or person having care of it). The hunt for the accused is underway.
