Western Railway GRP has arrested one of the most wanted robbers Umesh Kamble (25) who is known to steal belongings from long-distance trains and also seized INR 3 lakhs.


For the past many days, a robber used to steal golden chains, mangalsutra from long-distance trains but the GRP was not able to nab a thief. Accused Kamble used to target Janshatabdi Express, Konkan Kanya Express, Sawantwadi Diva Passenger, Panvel local trans to carry out his robbery.

The accused admitted that he committed five robberies. We have also seized INR 3 lakhs”

In the month of July, two mangalsutra went missing from Janshatabdi Express which was stationed at Panvel station. As per the CCTV footage, the GRP saw a man roaming suspiciously on the platform. On investigation, they received a tip (information) that the same suspicious man had planned to steal in Netravati Express and accordingly they lay the trap on Panvel station and arrested an accused Umesh Kamble.

Upon interrogation, Kamble admitted of selling golden ornaments in Kolhapur’s jewellery stores.
