Former Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) corporator Siraj Sheikh, who is contesting the assembly elections in Maharashtra as an independent candidate, has been accused of raping a minor.
A case was registered against Sheikh with Shivaji Nagar police. However, Sheikh is absconding while the investigation in the case is underway.
The 13-year-old victim, who lives in Shivaji Nagar, informed that Siraj Sheikh assured her a scholarship earlier and had asked the minor to meet him at his residence. According to the girl’s statement, Sheikh harassed her while threatening the minor to not tell this to anyone.

However, the minor informed about the incident to her family members after which a complaint was filed at Shivaji Nagar police station. Later, the police booked a case against Siraj Sheikh under POSCO Act.
