Kamala Mills Fire Incident: Mumbai sessions court reject '1Above' and Mojo's Bistro owners' bail plea

On Wednesday, Mumbai sessions court rejected the bail pleas of '1 Above' owners Kripesh Sanghvi, Jigar Sanghvi and Abhijeet Mankar, and Mojo's Bistro co-owner Yug Pathak in the Kamala Mills fire case. However, Additional Sessions Judge S V Yarlagadda granted bail to '1 Above' managers Kewin Baba and Libson Lopez.

Last month, the court had refused bail to Mojo's Bistro co-owner Yug Tulli.

Lopez' lawyer argued that he helped people who were stuck in the bar and saved their lives. NM Police had filed 2706-page chargesheet against 12 accused at Bhoiwada court in February.

Along with the arrest of Kamala Mills owner and accused Ramesh Govani and Ravi Bhandari, Kripesh Sanghvi, Jigar Sanghvi and Abhijeet Mankar, Yug Tuli and Yug Pathak, Rajendra Baban Patil, Kewin Bava and Libson Lopez were also arrested. 

After the incident, the NM Joshi Marg police had arrested 14 people in the case, including owners of 1Above and Mojo's Bistro and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials for alleged negligence. The fire had started because of a hookah which was illegally served at Mojo’s Bistro and the fire quickly spread charring 1Above restaurant as well.
