A shocking incident has been reported from Mumbai's Mulund area where a dog has been sexually assaulted in the society. As per reports, a local resident called the Mulund police after witnessing the same and the officials have registered a case and arrested the man.

The accused identified as Shobhanath Saroj (30) works as a labourer in a reputed society in Mulund. On November 5, 2020, the witness saw the accused was making some suspicious movements in the parking lot of the society where he then abused the stray dog sexually in the parking lot.

Residents of the society were informed about the same and they caught the man red-handed. It is said that Shobhanath lives in the same society.

Keeping the same in mind, a complaint lodged at the Mulund Police Station by Amit Kumar Udayraj Singh, and a case has been registered against Shobhanath under Section 377 of the IPC under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, 11 (1), (a). Sobhraj has been arrested by the police and remanded in police custody.

A similar incident had taken place in Mumbai's Powai area a few days back, where a female dog was sexually assaulted at a shopping mall in Powai. The accused had tortured the dog by inserting a stick in her genitals and upon knowing the same, the activists and animal lovers were furious. A case was also registered in this regard, and the search for the accused began.
