A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable shot dead a senior colleague and three passengers aboard the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Express running near Palghar railway station on Monday, July 31. The shocking video of this incident has now gone viral.

In a video posted on Twitter, the accused is seen threatening passengers with a gun in his hand. In the video, a passenger's body can be seen lying in a pool of blood at his feet.

In the video, Singh says that the people who were killed recently belonged to Pakistan. Later he said the media will also say the same and whoever wants to stay should vote only for "Modi and Yogi".

Police are investigating further about the video too.

According to railway officials, the accused constable was transferred to Mumbai last March from Bhavnagar division and had recently moved to his native Hathras. He joined duty on 17 July.

Singh lived in the barracks here. His family consists of his wife, two children aged 6 and 8 and his parents.

"This is the first incident in a running train. The passengers are scared. We want to assure them that the police will investigate the incident thoroughly," he added.

According to the GRP, Singh fired 12 rounds from his rifle. GRP has recovered eight bullets from his rifle after the incident.

Singh hails from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh and is in the custody of the Mira Road Railway Police, the official said. Four bodies were taken out of the train at Borivali railway station, official said.

He was arrested under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act.

Constable Chetan Singh (34) shot dead RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Tika Ram Meena and another passenger in the B5 coach with his rifle. He shot dead another passenger in B6 coach, and killed another in the pantry car between B5 and B6 coaches, a railway official said.

The deceased passengers have been identified as Abdul Qadirbhai Mohammad Hussain Bhanpurwala (48), Akhtar Abbas Ali (48) and Sadar Mohammad Hussain.

An ex-gratia of INR 25 lakh has been announced for the kin of deceased ASI Meena, a senior Western Railway official said.

Meena's relatives will be paid INR 15 lakh from the Railway Safety Welfare Fund (Fund) in addition to the funeral expenses of INR 20,000. His relatives will also get death-cum-retirement gratuity and group insurance scheme, Thakur said.

Official further stated that the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be known and the investigation is on.

The RPF constable was caught trying to escape by pulling the chain of a stopped train between Mira Road and Dahisar stations (on the Mumbai suburban network). The rifle was seized from him. He is currently being investigated.
