Six men arrested in Navi Mumbai for illegally pilfering LPG from tankers

They accused were tanker drivers who were pilfering LPG from tankers into commercial gas cylinders by using some 'juggad' machines

The Panvel police have arrested a gang of six members for pilfering LPG from tankers into commercial gas cylinders. Reportedly, they were using some 'juggad' machines for the same. They accused are tanker drivers who worked secretly with the buyers to sell the LPG in black markets for commercial purposes, and the police are still tracing the commercial use buyers.

The police had received a tip, following which they raided an open space in Poyajne village of Thane. On September 29 at around 1.40 AM, they caught four men who were stealing gas from LPG tankers into six empty gas cylinders. 

According to the reports, they were using 'juggad' machines and tampered with the sealed tanker's valve. Out of the four tanker drivers accused, three of them are from Rajasthan, identified as Somraj Bishnoi, Mangilal Bishnoi, and Subhash Punia. While, the fourth one is from UP, identified as Jalaluddin Khan.

The four accused in the police custody revealed their two members, identified as Manjur Ansari and Sonu Ansari. They were arrested by the cops on Saturday, October 2. The gang would manipulate the weight of the quantity in the tanker by halting midway in an open space and pilfered LPG.

The police said the accused are booked under section 406 (Punishment for criminal breach of trust) 285 (Negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible mat­ter), and 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). They are also booked under with Essential commodities Act and Liquified Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order, 2000.

The four accused, arrested on Sept 29, were in the police custody remand till Oct 4, Monday, while the other two were remanded in the police custody till October 6.
