Rising petrol and diesel prices are hitting the economy hard. At present, petrol is priced at INR 109.25 in Mumbai and diesel at INR 99.55. Petrol and diesel prices rose for the third day in a row in the country, despite a slight decline in international crude oil prices.

State-owned oil companies on Thursday, October 7, hiked petrol and diesel prices again. Petrol and diesel prices have been hiked in all metros. Among the metros, fuel rates are at the highest in Mumbai.

According to the IOCL website, petrol prices were hiked by 30 paise and diesel by 35 paise on Thursday. After the hike, petrol will cost INR 103.24 a litre and diesel INR 91.77 a litre in the national capital. In other metros, petrol and diesel prices have gone up.

In Kolkata, petrol is priced at INR 103.94 per litre, while diesel is priced at INR 94.88 per litre.

In Chennai, petrol is priced at INR 100.75 per litre, while diesel is priced at INR 96.26 per litre.

Meanwhile, the highest diesel price in the state was in Amravati at INR 100.72 a litre as of October 6. The price of petrol was the costliest in the state in Parbhani at INR 110.75.

Petrol prices had maintained stability since September 5, but oil companies finally raised the pump prices last week on Tuesday given a spurt in the product prices lately. It has now followed diesel with regular hikes in prices for the last four days before the pause on Monday.
