Mumbai: Social Activist Alleges That She Was Molested By The Local Ward President

According to reports, on Wednesday, a social activist who is 53-years-old lodged an FIR with Mumbai’s Borivali police alleging that she was molested by the local ward president in August 2020 in the corporator’s office. She commenced operations as a BJP worker in July 2020.

This alleged incident is said to have transpired at 6.30 pm in the office of Anjali Khedkar a BJP Corporator. This happened at Vazira Naka in Borivali (west) on 15 August 2020. Accounts state that she met the accused who is a local ward president in July when they exchanged numbers. She then began assisting in work related to the party.

The complainant in her statement, based on accounts elaborated that the accused called her to Khedkar’s office after which he closed the office and shut the lights. Later, she said that he kept his hands on her thigh and shoulder and stated that she’ll have to compromise if she wanted to work in the party. She left from there and after five days made an oral complaint to MLA Sunil Rane, but didn’t receive any response. So, she gave a written complaint to Rane as well as MP Gopal Shetty.

She then approached the police on Wednesday and filed an FIR under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code. Based on narratives, the senior inspector of the Borivali police station, Sudhir Kalekar said that they have registered the FIR and an investigation is underway.
