On Sunday evening, an autorickshaw driver who was 24-years-old passed away and a passenger sustained injuries in Mumbai’s Goregaon West, because the speeding vehicle, not only hit a pothole and lost control but also overturned on the bridge, highlighted a report by the Indian Express.

Kismat Shaikh, the deceased who resided in Vile Parle was driving the rickshaw through the Veer Savarkar Flyover with the passenger Mehmood Khan who is 46-years-old, seated behind him at nearly 4.45 pm, during which the accident occurred. The passenger was taken to the hospital and after being treated for his injuries was discharged.

A Malad police official, based on the report elaborated that whilst the autorickshaw overturned post hitting the pothole, the accident wouldn’t have transpired if the driver wasn’t speeding. On the basis of the passenger’s statement, an FIR has been lodged at the Malad police station under the IPC sections 279, 338 and 304 A that constitutes, rash driving, resulting in grievous injury and causing death by negligence. Since the autorickshaw driver has succumbed, the police will inform the court and shut the case, mentioned the account.
