Sunni cleric and leader of Islam Mufti Salman Azhari arrested for his controversial remarks

Sunni cleric and leader of Islam Mufti Salman Azhari has been arrested for his controversial remarks. Mufti was arrested around midnight last Sunday, 04 February. Mufti has been arrested in Junagadh, Gujarat for making controversial statements. Tension spread in the area after Gujarat Police arrested Mufti from Ghatkopar. Mufti's arrest created panic among his supporters. After which the police came into action mode and did light lathicharge to disperse the crowd.

According to the information received, Mufti Salman Azhar is a religious leader of Islam. He had given a controversial statement in a speech in Junagadh, Gujarat on January 31. After which a case was registered against him under Section 153B. Later Gujarat ATS arrested Mufti Salman from Ghatkopar. This controversial speech of Mufti is currently going viral on social media. It was also said that this was likely to create a rift between the two communities. Therefore Gujarat ATS registered a case against Mufti. But, since he is in Mumbai, he has been arrested.

When Gujarat Police reached Ghatkopar last night to arrest Mufti Salman Azhari, his supporters started gathering there. After this these supporters blocked the road. But when some goons also started raising slogans, finally the police had to resort to mild lathi charge on them. At this time DCP Hemraj Rajput himself came on the road and started cleaning the road. Supporters blocked the road. Even after the appeal of the police, he refused to back down. Since the rally was held on LBS Marg, an important route to Ghatkopar, the police had to lathicharge Mufti's supporters.

There was tension in Ghatkopar for some time after the arrest of Sunni community cleric Mufti Salman Azhari. Due to which police force has been deployed in this area. Mufti was arrested and kept in Ghatkopar police station overnight. After this the police said that Mufti will be produced in Worli court today. Mufti had given objectionable and controversial statements regarding other religions in Junagadh. Due to which the fear of conflict between the two communities was expressed. So Gujarat ATS took action and registered a case against Mufti.
