On Tuesday, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) sealed 15 bars in its jurisdiction for violating COVID-19 rules. The TMC Chief, Vipin Sharma had ordered for such actions to be undertaken. According to his instructions, authorities need to crack down on those flouting the COVID-19 norms in the city.

Additionally, ward committee-wise actions will be undertaken by the respective officers on those institutions who are not adhering to the rules issued by the competent authority in light of the pandemic.

This comes in the backdrop of a sting operation conducted by a news channel highlighting operational bars in the pandemic.

Considering that the state is currently under Level 3 restrictions, establishments including shops are permitted to be open till 4 pm on weekdays. Similarly, non-essential establishments cannot function on weekends.
