A woman from Thane has filed an FIR against a 38-year-old man, accusing him of sexual harassment, physical torture, and fraud. The accused was the victim's Facebook friend. He allegedly assaulted her in a lodge in Ulhasnagar after befriending her on the social media platform in 2021.
According to the police at Vitthalwadi station, the man sexually assaulted the woman and subjected her to physical and psychological abuse. He reportedly tortured her after she rejected his advances. He also threatened to post videos of the assaults online.
The victim claims she was repeatedly raped and forced into marriage. She stated that the accused took her to Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, along with his mother. There, she was imprisoned in a house where her hair and eyebrows were forcibly cut off.
Furthermore, her bank passbooks and personal identification cards, including PAN and Aadhar, were stolen. The accused's family allegedly used these documents to fraudulently secure loans. The victim also said that she was threatened with the release of her "objectionable video" if she did not ask her parents for money.
The FIR was registered on Sunday, and the accused, along with five of his family members, were charged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The charges include repeated rape, sexual harassment, assault, kidnapping, and extortion. Despite the serious allegations, the police have not made any arrests yet. The investigation is still ongoing.
