Drug-peddlers supplying free drugs to spread addiction

Mumbai – Drug-peddlers always try to get people addicted to the deadly drugs so that their illegal business gets flourished. College-going students always remain on their radar and they keep luring them by employing various techniques. The latest trick is a free supply of drugs to these students. Though the quantity of free drugs is very small, it is enough to the student an addict, say experts.

The anti-narcotic cell of police had arrested two drug peddlers from Wadi Bunder area a few days back. Police had seized 115 gms cocaine and 60 gm mephedrone drugs from them. The seized cocaine was found in small pouches of 5 gms each. These chocolate-like pouches are called ‘love drops’ and these drops are supplied to youths free of cost, informed Santosh Bhalekar, senior police inspector of Azad Maidan police station.

Police have claimed that the small quantity of 0.05 gm cocaine in this 5 gm pouch is enough to make the consuming youth its addict.
Mumbai police have initiated action against drug peddlers and arrested 14 Nigerian nationals involved in smuggling of drugs and seized narcotic material worth crores of rupees from them.
