So far 11 thousand 300 complainants have come to the Financial Offenses Branch and the Crime Branch in the Torres embezzlement case. Therefore, the amount of this misappropriation has reached INR 120 crores. In actual fact, the investors are accused of embezzlement of thousands of crores of rupees.
By opening branches in different parts of Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan under the name of 'Torres', the company which provides gold, silver and diamond jewelery to the customers, gradually started accepting investments in money. They also did business for a year. But as soon as they got a chance, theytook thousands of crores and squandered it. In the 'Torres' embezzlement case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) along with the Economic Offenses Wing of the Mumbai Police have registered a case and started the investigation. A blue corner notice has also been issued against nine foreign accused in this case.
The Torres scam is serious and ordinary citizens have been robbed of their lifetime earnings. It is suspected that this amount has been transferred to foreign accounts and illegal channels have been used for it. It is currently under investigation. Sources said that the work of getting information about the related bank accounts and properties related to the accused will be done immediately. The ED has started investigation in this matter based on the crimes filed at Shivaji Park Police Station in Mumbai. The case is currently being investigated by the Economic Offenses Wing of the Mumbai Police.
Complainant vegetable seller Vaishya (31) has claimed that half a million people have invested money in Torres. So far 11,300 investors have come before the police and due to them the amount of fraud has reached INR 120 crores. The ED is going to investigate all the financial transactions of Platinum Hearn Pvt Ltd from February 2013 in this case. The amount invested is in cash. It is suspected that she deposited the amount at the branch in Dadar and allegedly sent it abroad through the hawala network.
Several investment schemes were implemented by Torres. It offered a lure of six percent interest every week. Thousands of investors from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Mira Road gathered outside Torres' offices in Dadar, Mira Road, and APMC Navi Mumbai on January 6.
They protested as their interest was due from the last week of December. On the same day, a complaint was lodged at Shivaji Park Police Station. It is claimed that this amount is in thousands of crores. Apart from this, a case has also been registered in Navghar Police of Mira Bhayander, Rabodi Police of Thane, and APMC Police Station of Navi Mumbai. ED will investigate all these cases together.
