The police elucidated that seven young men in their early twenties came to the spot and allegedly consumed alcohol at that time.

On Tuesday, July 5, evening, two young men drowned at a site of an abandoned quarry in Dahisar, reports stated. With one body being found and identified, the search for the other body is still underway by the authorities. 

Based on accounts, the Dahisar police remarked that the mishap transpired at nearly 5.30 pm on Tuesday. This occurrence comes in the midst of heavy rainfall lashing Mumbai. The police elucidated that seven young men in their early twenties came to the spot and allegedly consumed alcohol at that time.

A senior police inspector was quoted in narratives elaborating on how there are some abandoned quarries at the edge of Sanjay Gandhi National Park. He added that during monsoon, the pit which is as deep as 40 feet gets filled with water. He claimed that while the locals were aware of the risks, the victims from Gorai came to enjoy the rains. He uttered that the duo entered the water-filled pit and drowned. 

According to narratives, the other boys raised an alarm and called the police, and fire brigade post which a search and rescue operation was commenced.

Civic officials enunciated that one of the victims, Shekhar Vishwakarma (19) was pulled from the water and taken to Kandivali's Shatabdi Hospital.

There, he was declared dead before admission. Search for the other boy, Sanjay Jogdand (23) is presently underway. The officer added that an accidental death report has been filed in regard to the incident.
