Mumbai: US agency alerts Mumbai police over ‘suicide’ search on Google; Cops save the man

The Mumbai crime branch traced and counselled a 25-year-old man who wanted to end his life after receiving an alert by a US agency. 

The Interpol, USA national central bureau (NCB) gave an alert to the crime branch that the person was searching  ‘how to commit suicide without pain’ on Google on Tuesday afternoon. The office of unit 5 found the office based on the IP address and brought the man to the unit office and his parents were informed as well, the police added.

A police officer said that he had taken a loan a year ago of INR 2 lakh for some online courses. Later, from one of his friends he borrowed INR 30,000 to buy a new mobile and used his credit card for INR 65,000 and repaid only the interest in the last one year.

He went into depression as he was not able to repay the loan. He also started consuming alcohol. He also tried ending his life twice, the police added. The person has done his bachelors in computer application (BCA) and works in an IT company in Kurla West. He is a resident of Jogeshwari where he lives with his parents and a younger brother.
