On January 26, 2018, India celebrated the 69th Republic Day by welcoming tableaus of all states in Delhi. For many years now, the tableaus have been a centre of attraction at the Republic Day parades. 

Artisans and engineers make the floats and also conduct live performances. Along with this, the tableaus depict varied themes which showcase the rich cultural heritage of the country as well as nation’s progress.

Maharashtra’s tableau at the Republic Day parade showcased the historic coronation (rajyabhishek) of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The tableau was created by art director Nitin Desai and his team of artisans. The act was performed by 10 artists. Designed by Prof Narendra Vichare the float was a 3D replica.



In 2018, tableaus presentation included 14 states- Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Kerala along with the Union Territory of Lakshadweep.

The parade resumed at Rajpath and ended at Red Fort in Delhi.
