Shemaroo Entertainment Limited in association with VKAAO which is a joint venture of BookMyShow and PVR Pictures is all set to launch a new movie series called ‘Picture Ki Cheer Phaad’. This movie series will be seen taking the format of ‘Roast’ to the big screens and will be releasing it exclusively across PVR theatres in approximately 20 cities in India. Popular stand-up comedian Gaurav Kapoor will roast Bollywood movies in his unique style.

Talking to Mumbai Live about the format of the series Hiren Gada, CEO, Shemaroo Entertainment Limited, said, “This movie series will present a different take of Bollywood movies in a Roast format. The quality of content has been in vast contrast with today’s Indian cinema and the show ‘Picture Ki Cheer Phaad’ will reflect the same. Our motto is to entertain the audience by showing them yesteryear pretentious movies in a comic way without hurting anybody’s sentiments. For now, we are going releasing this series in theatres but will eventually start streaming on the digital platform."

Adding further Gaurav Kapoor averred, “Yesteryear Bollywood movies especially of the ’80s and 90’s hold a special place in Indian cinema. I am excited to see myself on the big screen and watch the analysis of the very same movies that my generation grew up watching”.

The series will kick start with the cheer phaad of the horror thriller ‘Papi Gudia’ which is a part of the Shemaroo archives.

On being asked whether Shemaroo will approach any other production house for the roast format, Hiren Gada, CEO, Shemaroo Entertainment Limited replied, “ We already have Shemroo’s archival content of approximately 300-400 movies, therefore, for now, will not approach anybody. However, in future, we will surely think about it”.
