After releasing many successful web series in the last few months, popular OTT platform SonyLIV has once again released the teaser of an upcoming original, titled 'Scam 1992.'

Based on the life of stockbroker Harshad Mehta, the show is set in Bombay in the 1980-1990s. Scam 1992 follows his meteoric rise and catastrophic downfall and is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Hansal Mehta. Scam 1992 is adapted from journalist Debashis Basu & Sucheta Dalal’s book titled 'The Scam.'

Scam 1992 stars Pratik Gandhi, Sharib Hashmi, Shreya Dhanwantary, Satish Kaushik, Nikhil Dwivedi, Anant Mahadevan, Rajat Kapoor, and many others. The show is presented by Applause Entertainment.

The teaser shows Sharib Hashmi talking to Shreya Dhanwantry about a 500-crore scam from the SBI account. While the latter is not able to believe in it, she asks more details about the name behind the fraud, and the former says 'Harshad Mehta.'

Harshad Mehta was born in 1954 and passed away in 2001. In the 1990s he was involved in the biggest stock scam to be committed ever in the Indian Stock Market. While this scam exposed several nuances and loopholes, it also resulted in a structural change of the security system, and introduced a new secured online method of transactions. It also resulted in a huge impact on share prices and the index the stock market had never witnessed.

'Scam 1992' is a fictional representation of the incident and release details regarding the show will be announced soon.
