Ullu launches the trailer of 'Halala' starring Shafaq Naaz and Eijaz Khan in lead role

Online streaming platform Ullu recently launched the trailer of its upcoming series ‘Halala’. The web series will showcase the issues that a woman of the Muslim community has to face after Triple Talaq. After the pronouncement of talaq thrice, the women are deemed that is unlawful and is therefore prohibited for the husband. Not only this practice but also the barbarous practice of Nikah Halala is an Islamic Law requiring a woman to marry and sleep with another man in order to return to her first husband.

Halala features a actors Eijaz Khan, Deepika Singh, Shafaaq Naaz, Neelima Azeem and Ravi Bhatia in pivotal roles.

Talking about ‘Halala’ Shafaq Naaz, who is the lead of the show averred, “I am lucky to be a part of the series which sends out a strong message that the religion Islam teaches us to lead an easy and happy life. Islam bhi isiliye taaki aap zindagi ko aasan rakh sako aur naki kisi aur ko torture karo. Shooting for the series was a nice to experience, however, those 15-20 days while I was shooting I was completely drained mentally. I was emotionally stressed thinking about those women who live such a terrible life.”

Adding further Eijaz Khan said, “I was aware of the term ‘Halala’ but was uneducated about the subject. As a citizen of this country and as a Muslim I feel that this is a very important subject that needs to be put forward to the society.”

“The story is so intriguing that I read the script in one go. Later, to know more about Halala, I researched and found out many cases on the topic. I thank our director Deepak Pandey who helped us understand the depth of the content”, added Ravi Bhatia.

Furthermore, Deepika Singh said, “I always wanted to explore more about the concept 'Halala'. In the past, many people have tried to portray something like this (Halala) on screen but weren't successful in sketching the story on such a hard-hitting concept. I am glad that Vibhu Ji (producer) has done it. It feels great to be a part of such an unusual show”

‘Halala’ will start streaming on Ullu app from March 29,2019.
