According to sources, undergraduate medical and dental students along with their parents have approached the state common entrance test cell and the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER).

This comes after the aspirants had expressed the need to seek clarity with regards to the medical admission process for the academic year 2020-21. On Monday, November 2, in separate emails sent to both the bodies, the students, along with the parents have demanded the admission schedule along with a brochure and seat matrix for the upcoming academic year. Moreover, as per reports, the students have highlighted the fact that the admission process in Maharashtra needs to start by November 6, as stated by the Centre.

In the past, the state government announced their decision to abolish the 70:30 regional quotas in medical admission that reserved 70 per cent seats for those from the region. However, this decision of the government was challenged by a student from Vidarbha. The Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court has put a stay in medical admissions until November 10.

Meanwhile, the parents are said to approach the High Court if they fail to receive a response by the state by November 6. As of now, the CET cell is yet to release any information about the abovementioned process.
