Omicron Scare: Call On Physical Classes In Educational Establishments Will Be Taken Next Week, Says Aaditya Thackeray

On Monday, December 27, morning, Maharashtra cabinet minister, Aaditya Thackeray reportedly stated that the state government is closely monitoring the rise in COVID-19 and Omicron variant cases. He added that soon a decision on physical classes in educational establishments will be undertaken, reports stated. 

This happened on the sidelines of the yearly convocation ceremony of the University of Mumbai conducted at the campus in Fort. As one of the guests of honour at the event, Thackeray elaborated on how everyone must adhere to the COVID-19 protocols.

Presently, he said that educational establishments are non-operational owing to Christmas break, but the condition is being assessed and depending on how things happen, a call will be undertaken sometime next week, he remarked, quoted narratives. 

Based on accounts, Thackeray added that the decision to shut schools isn't easy since students miss out on a considerable part of their development. He believes this is especially true for those who haven't gone to school. While keeping all this in mind, students' health and safety is being considered of paramount importance and thus a decision will be taken, he mentioned. 

In regards to the COVID-19 vaccine now being made available for those between 15 - 18 years of age, Thackeray is of the opinion that it will help tackle the challenge of increasing coronavirus cases. The physical yearly convocation ceremony was conducted after a gap of one year.
