The Central Board of Secondary Education released the Class 12 marks today at 2 pm. Apart from being available on the official websites, students can also check their results via SMS or certain apps.

The pass percentage recorded this year, stands at 99.37% which is approximately 10% higher than the previous year which was 88.8%. In contrast to 2019, the number was at 83.4%. However, according to reports 65,184 students haven’t received their results yet as they are being processed. These students will receive their results on August 5.

Independent and Government aided schools witnessed the largest pass percentage jump. The pass percentage has risen to 99.22 % this year from 88.22 % last year in independent schools. Additionally, the number stood at 99.48 % this year in government aided schools compared to 91.56% in the previous year.

Reports state that 129 children with special needs have scored above 95% marks. 6,149 students, on the other hand, will have to reappear for the exams. 70,004 students have secured more than 95% marks. Further, girls continue to outrun the boys, with their pass percentage of 99.67% as compared to 99.13% of boys. Moreover, no merit list will be released this year as well.

After the cancellation of the CBSE Board Exams due to the coronavirus, these results have been declared through a different marking criterion. A 40:30:30 formula was utilized to curate the marks, wherein scores in Class 12, 11 and 10 were checked.

Based on this formula, every subject’s theory marks will be calculated through the 40% they got in that subject in mid or pre boards which were held by the respective schools. 30% will be from their final Class 11 exam marks and 30% from their final Class 10 exam marks. All of this will be added, to the scores, they attained in internal assessments and projects in Class 12.

On the other hand, students who aren’t happy with their scores can sit for a written exam when the situation permits them to do so.
