Maharashtra reintroduces scholarship exams for Class 4 and 7 - Read To Know Dates, Eligibility Criteria, Application Form Deadline

The Primary Scholarship Examination (Class IV) and the Upper Primary Scholarship Examination (Class VII) in the state will be conducted on April 26, 2026, on the same day in all districts of the state.

According to an official circular, the exam will be conducted simultaneously at designated centres across the state, with the online application process having opened on December 30.

The notification for this examination has been released on the Maharashtra State Examination Council's website, www.mscepune.in and https://puppssmsce.in, according to Anuradha Oak, Commissioner of the Examination Council.

Online Application Forms Available on Website:

Online application forms are available on the Examination Council's website for eligible students who meet the conditions mentioned in the notification. These students are those who have taken admission in Class IV and Class VII in government-recognized schools during the academic year 2025-26 and wish to appear for the Primary and Upper Primary Scholarship Examinations, respectively.

The last date for submitting the school information form, application form, and fees online is February 2, 2026, with late and very late fees applicable until February 28, 2026. The Examination Council has clarified that application forms will not be accepted online or offline under any circumstances after the deadline.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students appearing for the Class IV examination must be no more than 10 years old as of January 1, 2025, while the age limit for Class VII students is 13 years.

Students with disabilities have been granted an age relaxation of four years.

Assessment of Examination:

The examination will be held in two sessions. The first session, from 11 am to 12 noon, will include the First Language and Mathematics papers. The second session, from 2 pm to 3.30 pm, will consist of the Third Language and the Intelligence Test.

It will be conducted in seven languages: Marathi, Urdu, Hindi, Gujarati, English, Telugu, and Kannada.
