In an attempt to ease its administration’s work, Mumbai University has granted degree colleges with the permission to conduct examinations for its First Year and Second Year students from the academic year 2018-19. The University’s academic council has approved of the proposal to allow the colleges to conduct the FY and SY examinations which will provide the colleges with extra authority over the students.

The decision was taken by the committee formed under the Vice-Chancellor’s guidance and its aim was to ease the University’s stress. Earlier, since the last two years, Mumbai University was in complete authority of the FY, SY, and TY examinations. But that led to the University creating a ruckus and resulted in the mismanagement which put the students in a dilemma.

The results were delayed, examinations were delayed, due to lack of manpower and proper management. Therefore, the University decided to grant the colleges with the authority to hold examinations for the FY and SY degree students.

However, even after the permission to conduct exams being granted by the colleges, the committee will be keeping a check on the colleges and its examinations. Alongside, the committee will also ensure that the colleges complete the syllabus as well as if the paper is properly set.
