Will take decision on Third-Year University exams on June 20: State Minister of Higher Education

After State Minister of Higher Education, Uday Samant announced that the government had decided to cancel First-Year and Second-Year University examinations and conduct only Final-Year University examinations, the students voiced their concerns about appearing for exams amid the pandemic. Owing to the objection raised by the students, Samant recently announced that the government will take a decision for Third-Year University examinations on June 20.


The minister in his Facebook conversation with the students and student unions of Maharashtra addressed the issues faced by them. Various students from autonomous and private universities complained to Samant that the institutes are planning to conduct exams despite instructions from the government to cancel them.

Responding to which, Samant stated that he will be interacting with the administration and vice-chancellors of all the universities on Wednesday. He added that as per the UGC guidelines, autonomous, private universities will have to comply with the state government's policy for conducting exams. He clarified that a decision in this regard will be announced soon.

Further, Samant also assured the students who had paid examination fees to not worry. He said that the government will be making a decision on the issue in the next two days after having a discussion with the vice-chancellors.

While the decision for Third-Year students has been pushed to June 20, Samant stated that the students will ATKT/backlog in Final Year will have to appear for exams between July 1-30.

Meanwhile, CET students had been demanding that their examinations must also be cancelled this year. Samant said that cancelling the CET exams is not possible as it would pose a threat to the future of lakhs of students. He added that this year, the CET examinations will be held at taluka level instead of district-level.
