First merit list of Bifocal courses is out

The first merit list for the admissions of Bifocal courses was declared on Thursday. Around 7,000 students have been allotted seats for vocational courses in First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions.

Out of 14,338 students who had applied for admissions to Bifocal courses in Science and Commerce stream, 7,000 seats have been allotted. In total, there are 26,000 vacant seats for Bifocal courses in all colleges.


Streams and admissions


  • Arts stream
    11 students secured admissions

  • Commerce stream
    445 students had applied, 256 secured the admission

  • Science stream
    13,882 students had applied, 7,139 secured the admission

In the next two days, students who have been allotted seats will have to submit their documents and pay fees in respective colleges. Remaining students who did not make it in the first merit list will have to wait for the next merit round.

This is the first time, admissions to Bifocal courses were added in the FYJC online admission process. Two merit rounds will be conducted for Bifocal courses. Students who have not been allotted seats after the completion of the second round will be added to the general merit round for general Science, Commerce and Arts stream which will begin after July 5, 2018.
