Moreover, authorities have added 11 new locations to provide more options to candidates across the country. Officials have said that a candidate can make one or more changes at any given time between October 28 and November 13.

Unlike conventional tests, GATE is a Computer Based Test (CBT), though they need to be conducted at a certified centre to avoid malpractice. The allocation of 11 new test locations will go a long way in making GATE accessible for more candidates given the existing restrictions on travel.

The GATE is conducted nationally by the country’s top institutions including the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore as well as the seven IITs across India - Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, and Roorkee.

These examinations are overseen by the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, along with the Department of Higher Education and the Central Ministry of Education (MoE).
