On Monday, December 14, the director of IIT Bombay stated that 847 candidates had chosen the “withdraw option” during admission while requesting the Supreme Court to vacate its December 9 order in favour of student Siddhant Batra.

According to a report in Times of India, the interim order in favour of Siddhant Batra stated that it “may lead to opening up a potential floodgate of litigation by other candidates who may have second thoughts about their choice of withdrawal”.

Siddhant Batra had received an all India rank of 270 and got a seat in the month of October only to lose it later as he clicked on “withdraw from seat allocation and further rounds” in a genuine mistake. However, on Monday, December 14, Batra started attending classes after IIT gave him provisional admission post the ruling of the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2021 students have got a final chance to change the choice of examination city by Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at no cost. IIT Bombay, which will be conducting the aptitude test has reopened the GOAPS portal on Monday, December 14, only for registered candidates to make changes in the exam centre.

The committee decided to reopen the online portal amidst the outbreak of the coronavirus and the subsequent requests by the students. However, authorities have stated that there will be no further chances to change the city. Moreover, in order to change the GATE 2021 exam city centre, candidates will have to visit the official website and log in using their credentials.
