Despite the students applying for admissions in private ITIs, the number of students who secured admissions in government ITIs has almost reached one lakh.

The procedure for admission in the central government’s Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) has been made online this year. The procedure has ended and it was learnt that more than 91,117 students had secured their admission in various curriculums. As compared to last year, there has been a four per cent increase in the number of admissions. 

There were 94,248 seats available for ITI. Four rounds were arranged for the admission through online process. After the merit lists of these rounds were announced, 91,117 students have been admitted. 96.68 per cent of the available seats in ITIs has been filled in this year.

Last year, around 92.43 per cent of the available seats were filled and there has been a 4.25 per cent increase in the number of admissions secured this year as per the available seats.

Students are giving priority to courses like electrician, fitter, machinist, diesel motor mechanic, electronics machinist etc. in ITI. Besides students are now treating these courses as a priority and are choosing ITI over diploma courses.
