On Monday, March 8, the results of the JEE Main examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency at the national level for admission in IITs and other engineering institutes were announced.

Six students from across the country, including Andheri based boy Siddhant Mukherjee, have scored 100 percentiles in the examination. Among the girls, Pranita Rao topped the state with a 99.98 percentile.

The exams will be held four times this year so that students do not have to miss opportunities due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. The first examination was conducted from February 24-26. Moreover, the test was conducted at 828 centres in 331 cities, including nine outside India, namely, Colombo, Doha, Dubai, Kathmandu, Kuwait Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah and Singapore. In addition, a total of 6,20,978 students appeared for the exam, including 1,85,574 females, 4,35,402 males and two transgenders.

Until last year, the exam was conducted in 3 languages. This year, for the first time, English, Hindi, Gujarati, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu was accepted.

According to reports, JEE Main comprises two papers. Paper one is conducted for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programs (B.E/B. Tech) at NITs, IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), Institutions/Universities funded/recognized by participating State Governments, as well as an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs.

The second paper is conducted for admission to B. Arch and B. Planning courses in the Country. From this year, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), Lucknow will also use the score sheet of JEE (Main) – 2021 for admission to the B.Tech / M.Tech (Integrated)/B.Arch.
