Maharashtra's Common Entrance Tests (CET) will have stricter security to prevent cheating and make sure of fair admissions. The CET Cell will introduce CCTV surveillance, live streaming, body cameras, and photo verification. These will increase transparency in the process.
Camera Surveillance
CCTV cameras will be installed in all exam halls. Live footage will be streamed to a control room for real-time monitoring. This will help officials detect any irregularities immediately. The use of body cameras on invigilators is also planned. These cameras will monitor student activities and record the actions of invigilators.
Identity Verification
Candidates will also go through many photo verifications. A photo will be taken at the time of CET registration. Another photo will be taken during the exam. A final photograph will be captured during the admission process. All these photos must match to confirm the candidate's identity. This will prevent impersonation.
Additional Measures
As per reports, officials are also considering additional steps. They are exploring ways to improve surveillance and prevent any loopholes. Although most test centres already have CCTV cameras, the plan is to start live monitoring from a centralised control room. Discussions are ongoing to finalise the details.
The CET Cell conducts admissions for professional courses such as engineering, medicine, law, and nursing. More than 18 entrance exams are held for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Thousands of students participate in the centralised admissions process each year. The new security measures will make fair selection at every stage.
