In a recent announcement, Maharashtra's Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh has stated that the state would work towards starting a homeopathic medical college, in the near future. This institution will be run by the Maharashtra government, and the announcement was made at the webinar organised by the Sonajirao Homeopathic Medical College, in the memory of Kesharbai Sonaji Kshirsagar alias Kesharbai Kaku.

Minister Deshmukh was invited as the chief guest at the webinar and the event was held in the presence of former minister Jaydatta Kshirsagar and other members.

Addressing the viewers online, and speaking on the occasion, Minister Deshmukh said, “Kesharbai Kaku established Sonajirao Homeopathic Medical College at Beed, and today, many renowned homeopathic doctors have received their education and passed from this esteemed institution with a successful degree. In today's difficult COVID19 times, coronavirus patients around the world are receiving the best possible treatment, among which homeopathy is  playing a very important role in this."

As per records, Maharashtra hosts one-fourth of country's homeopathic medical colleges, however, there is no government-run homeopathic medical college in the state. Hence, the plan to develop one will be made soon, and the state will consider seeking the help of the central government, confirmed Minister Deshmukh.

Present at the occasion were Municipal Corporation Mayor Dr Bharatbhushan Kshirsagar, former president of Homeopathic Council Dr Ramji Singh, Kalidas Thigale, MLA Vikram Kale, President of Kaku Nana Pratishthan Adv, and other eminent doctors and dignitaries in the field of homeopathy.
