Urdu Bhavan to be set up at Ratnagiri

Information regarding the same was shared by Minister Uday Samant who also mentioned that the land and the funds required for the project have been approved by the government.

Maharashtra's Higher and Technical Education Minister, Uday Samant, on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, directed the government officials to draft a plan for setting up an Urdu house in Ratnagiri. This facility will be set up on the lines of the projects developed in Nanded and Malegaon, focusing for the development and prosperity of Urdu language in the state.

Minister Samant held a review meeting regarding this and several other matters at the Ministry. Discussions were held about the implementation  of the construction of Urdu Ghar (Bhavan). The event was held online and present at the discussion were Ratnagiri District Collector Dr. B.N. Patil and other senior officers of the department.

Sharing more instructions, he said that the project to build an Urdu house in Ratnagiri district has been approved in principle by the Minister for Minorities, Nawab Malik. Adequate funds have also been approved for this. The project has been planned keeping the Urdu speaking community in Ratnagiri. The facility will benefit the prosperity of the Urdu language and will offer various programs.

The space required to develop the project has also been made available and all the criteria are being met. Adequate funds will be provided for the completion of the project. Instructions have been given to develop a detailed plan for the construction of Urdu houses and the same has to be submitted to the Minorities Department, said Uday Samant.

To meet the objective of organizing events in Urdu homes, the government has decided to set up a separate cultural committee for each facility, and to effectively implement the same, the department has asked Urdu scholars to be included, who will offer the much-needed guidance. 

Besides this, Minister Samant also asked the department to start the work on Sanskrit sub-center in Ratnagiri which will be set up under the Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University in Ramtek, Nagpur.

Meanwhile, the state government of Maharashtra has also planned to set up a Marathi Bhasha Bhavan in Navi Mumbai's Airoli area. The project work will begin soon as CIDCO has handed over 3000sqm land to the department. Minister for the Marathi Language, Subhash Desai, accepted the papers for the same. Reports state that proposed sub-centre will include amenities like grand hall, library, children's area, offices, etc.
