In recent developments, the Maharashtra government has decided to resume schools in areas where there are no active coronavirus cases reported in the last month.

Moreover, Maharashtra School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad stated that the schools have been permitted to start offline classes for students of Classes 8 to 12 from July 15. Speaking about the same she stated, “It has become a need of the hour to have a co-educational approach to reach out to the children of the last strata of the state,”

In addition, Gaikwad informed that all teachers and staff members need to be vaccinated before the school reopening.

On the other hand, according to sources, the state's English School Trustees Association (MESTA) has decided to reduce fees by 25 per cent for students studying in English medium schools amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

This has brought about great relief to the students and parents of 18,000 English medium schools in the state. Moreover, MESTA has also decided to provide free education to students who have lost both parents due to the coronavirus.

Due to the pandemic, several citizens have lost their jobs which have greatly affected the economic stability of families. In view of the plight of the common people, English-medium schools have finally decided to reduce the fees by 25 per cent.
